Visual Design and User Experience

A review of the VDUX course from IIT Hyderabad

How has the course helped me?

I was able to explore a lot of topics that I wouldn't have considered if I was working on my own. I usually prefer self-learning programs but one of the downsides of self-learning is you don't know what you don't know. As a result, you may miss out on critical topics. In addition to this, you may also focus more on the topics that you enjoy working on and ignore the harder topics. With a more structured, instructor-led course, you are "forced" to work on topics that might seem dry but are very essential to your growth as a designer.

I've seen the impact of this course both at work and in my personal life. I got the most out of the Design & Culture sessions and learnings from this module helped me throughout the course and beyond. The Design Thinking sessions helped me look beyond the basics and approach problems in a different way. While earlier, I would spend hours on an artwork and still not know if it was going to turn out well, now I have a clear process to follow which also helps me figure out what I need to fix. Thanks to (what seemed like) unrealistic deadlines, it takes me less time to get started on something compared to before the course :-D
